Artwork Inspired by Comics, Rooted in Traditional Principles
Project Details
I've always had a passion for comics, starting from when I was just 6 years old. After being taught traditional painting and drawing, I wanted to apply the principles I learned as a young artist—such as blending techniques and understanding how light casts on objects—to digital painting. It took some time to customize brushes and adjust settings in Photoshop to find what worked best for me. However, that effort was definitely worth it. This piece was my first attempt at transitioning from traditional to digital art, and I was pleased with the outcome. It took several weeks to complete, considering all the details, but each day I discovered new techniques and insights as a digital painter. This piece depicts Black Panther on his throne. Beside him is an actual panther, and I wanted a more natural throne and room, and so I decided to have it be made of stone.

Process Work
You can apply the same principles from traditional art to digital art. I began by creating rough sketches to establish the composition. Next, I selected a basic color palette before moving on to the final renders. Finally, I added highlights, shadows, and finishing touches. All of this was done without any generative AI.
